common ground

project

In earlier research, a divide was found in particular between First Nations/Metis and Newcomers/ Immigrants.

With this information, the PA Common Ground Project was launched in Prince Albert in 2015 and was a group effort between the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of SK, Multicultural Council of Saskachewan, and SAISIA.

This project has been created to bridge that gap by creating public awareness meetings and community programs that will bring together people of both groups by using fun and creative ways to help everyone realize what we have in common rather than what divides us.

The Common Ground Project's ultimate goal is to remind each group about our humanness - the things we all share, to find commonalities rather than differences and to create a welcoming and inclusive community by fostering intercultural engagement and understanding between Indigenous, Newcomers, and broader communities.
